The Jomsom Muktinath hike takes us to the beautiful and windy city of Jomsom in the lap of the Himalayas. Also, it offers the opportunity to explore a famous Hindu pilgrimage site, Muktinath. This hike is an exciting hike that connects the Annapurna and Mustang regions of Nepal.
Jomsom is a pristine city that is windy in the afternoons and evenings. Jomsom is very popular with apples in Nepal. We will also visit apple orchards and gardens on this Jomsom Muktinath hike. We found several brands of apple liqueurs here in Jomsom.
Muktinath, a famous Hindu pilgrimage site where the god Vishnu is worshipped, conveys spiritual feelings as part of Jomsom Muktinath trekking. According to Hindu mythology, all sins are washed away when we bath in Muktinath, So many Hindu devotees from India and around the world visit Muktinath.
We also visit other beautiful cities like Marpha and Kagbeni. In Marpha, you can see beautiful orchards. Kagbeni offers us fascinating views of the Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, and Tukuche peaks.
The trail primarily runs through picturesque villages, waterfalls, lush forests, and, surprisingly, an almost dry leeward side of the Himalayas. All accommodations for Jomsom Muktinath Trek are included on the travel package and are selected according to hygiene standard, service standard, and catering, location, etc. There are two types of accommodation during the Jomsom Muktinath Trekking Tour. You will spend three nights in three-star hotels in Kathmandu, one night in Pokhara, and while trek in a standard tea house with unheated rooms and wooden beds and foam mattresses. In some places, the tea houses only have shared washing and toilet facilities. If you are traveling alone, share a room with another person of the same gender in your group. If you prefer a single room, you can specify your preference and receive single rooms upon request by paying a single room supplement of $ 250. However, keep in mind that single rooms are not always possible in some remote locations, even if you pay an extra fee for rooms individually.
During your trek, you can enjoy typical Nepalese food and some of the different ethnic cuisines as well as all kinds of international dishes (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.) from pizza and fries to apple pie. You can even enjoy hot chocolate, different pieces of bread, various drinks, and snacks. Lunch will be served on the way to the destination, dinner, and breakfast in the tea house where you will spend the night. Only breakfast is served during your stay at Hotel in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
Upon your arrival at Kathmandu airport, our airport representative will pick you up from the airport and take you to your reserved hotel. Swyambunath Stupa – The Monkey Temple: You can see the valley from the top of a hill on its west side. Swyambhu is also known as monkey temple because of the countless monkeys living on the site. Pashupatinath Temple: The Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most sacred Hindu temples in Nepal. It lies on the banks of the Bagmati River on the eastern outskirts of Kathmandu. Pashupatinath is the main temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Boudhanath Stupa: The Boudhanath Stupa is a 2,500year-old Buddhist stupa in Kathmandu valley, which was built with four pairs of eyes by Lord Buddha in the 5th century. Four directions and maintained the eternal watch over people and their actions. You will find Buddhist pilgrims from Tibet circling the stupa and turning the prayer wheels. Patan Durbar Square: Patan Durbar Square – in Lalitpur city center. It shows the architecture of Newari, which reached its peak during the reign of the Mall kings who were great builders and promoters of art. The rest of your time is available for further exploration and shopping near your hotel.

Early morning you will have breakfast and Fly to Pokhara enjoying the breathtaking view of the hills and mountains of the valleys from the plane. After landing at Pokhara Airport, drive to Naya Pul and start the walk. Then begin the first part of your hike to Tikhedunga via Birethanti. It is a reasonably easy flat hike through several small villages and lively settlements. After a while, it gently ascends to the final destination, Tlhedhunga. You will spend a night in the guest house.

After breakfast, your trip begins and rises sharply in the first 2 hours and then rises gently through Ulleri and Banthanti. This path offers you breathtaking views of Machhapuchhare or Fish Tail, Hiunchuli, and the massive Annapurna in the south. It is also a popular place for bird watching lover.

Climb a steep path through a forest up to the Lete Khola. After another walk, you will reach the city of Lete. Then continue your hike on a route east of the river and reach the village of Larjung. From Marpha, you walk along a path that depends on a valley. Gradually climb a crest and reach the village of Jomsom. From here, you walk north to Kagbeni, down the Kali Gandaki River, the deepest gorge in the world. This area is windy, so it’s important to walk carefully and evenly. Now you will walk through the village of Eklebhatti and continue towards Kagbeni. From Kagbeni you have a great view of the Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri and Tukuche peaks.

Your journey begins with a special permit check and then leads to the banks of the Kaligandaki River. During the walk, you will have picturesque places to visit and admire. The path rises steeply from Kagbeni and returns to the direct path that leads to Khingar at 3,200 m. The trail leads through a desert landscape towards the city of Jarkot. Another climb takes you to Muktinath.

Muktinath is an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists and Hindus because these two religions are closely linked to Nepal. You visit the main temple and its surroundings in the morning and admire the gargoyles before visiting a nearby Buddhist monastery. Return from Muktinath to Jomsom and enjoy the excellent view of Mount Dhaulagiri. Your stay will be in Jomsom.

Fly to Pokhara in the early morning. The flight goes through a gorge between the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna mountains, making the flight an incredible experience. When you arrive in Pokhara, the beautiful “Lake City,” you can spend the rest of the day free. Sailing on Lake Fewa and strolling through the picturesque streets of “Lake Side” is a popular choice with visitors. You will spend your night in the Pokhara hotel.

Travel insurance

Weather and the best time
The spring and fall seasons are considered the best time for Jomsom Muktinath Trek as the weather and temperature are calm and constant during these seasons. Rhododendrons and many seasonal flowers bloom in the spring months. Fall is also one of the best times to explore, and you can enjoy various Nepalese festivals like Dashain and Tihar.
Winter and summer are less suitable compared to spring and autumn. In winter, the temperature level drops below freezing, walking to higher regions less pleasant. The days are cold, followed by snow and blizzards. Summer also comes with heavy rains and unpredictable weather. With the right gears, however, you can walk to the Jomsom Muktinath Area all year round.
Physical fitness and experience requirements
Jomsom Muktinath Trek is an easy trek for passionate hikers who can walk 5 to 7 hours a day with a light backpack. Walking in higher altitudes is more physically demanding than walking in lower elevations. However, if we are in excellent health with moderate fitness and a positive attitude, self-confidence, and strong determination, you can continue this journey easily. Exercising and running regularly a few weeks before the trip is an excellent idea to improve your strength and stability. Previous hiking experience would be a bonus, but no technical knowledge is required for this trip.
The Jomsom Muktinath hike is a moderate hike at an altitude of 3940m that anyone with the right level of physical fitness can do. It is also a suitable hike for those who have no trekking experience.
From September to December and March to May are the prime times for this hike. This trek can be done during the monsoon season as it is called rain shadow; therefore can cover four seasons.
